My motivation behind everything is to help people have more fullfilling life, have better sense of wellbeing, using what we know from theory and empirical studies of practices in science. I think about it locally, I'm looking for and developing theory and practical applications explaining why and how for example substance assisted psychotheraphies, selfimprovement movements, or meditation works. I think about it globally, why and how societies that report better quality of life report it, what all factors in the social system come into play, and how could society be practically pushed towards that better state. I conceptualize everything in natural sciences and experience through the mathematics of adaptive complex systems. I am interested in those mathematics to engineer wellbeing on all scales and find correspondeces between different scientific disciplines. I think that everything in psychotheraphy, psychology, sociology, selfimprovement, spirituality, biology, physics, neuroscience, cognitive science, and so on, can be understood and interconnected through this general language of adaptive complex systems. I think this general language can sketch out new potential wellbeing engineering interventions on both local and global scale, and then can be translated into the less mathematical language or less general language of laymen cultural frameworks, psychology, sociology, spirituality, biology, cognitive science, and so on. This is what I'm developing in this book.
To heal a person in substance assisted psychotheraphy, you have to install a positive valence belief that is compatible with his existing framework/aethetics that doesn't spiral him into failure modes that is a cluster of bayesian beliefs reinforced by sensory data, or selfreinforced tautologically, or reinforced by other beliefs, through for example belief transforming internal family systems, and to install it you can synchronizace with the person by minimizing friction by embodying his mental framework. My favorite prior is love and gratitude for all that is!
Emotions or ontologies, bayesian priors in general, are like Global Giant Waves, Giant forces, when it comes to thought and behavior selection, probably imolemented as global information processing by global synchronization of neural populations

i see nostalgia as inverse of trauma, consance adding to past memories where nervous system thought you flourished, so that you start to idealize the memories blindly seeing it as better than it actually was
it might be evolutionary useful in the sense that it makes you more stick to behaviors that benefited you in relation to those that didnt benefit you
but it has its failure modes, you can start being nostalgic about things that actually harmed you
it might be emergent from the fact that the longer untouched memories are in the brain, the less full of information they tend to be as the structure disintegrates to entropy overtime when one doesnt remind himself often of them to strenghten the connections, which results in the phenomenology of "Good old simple times..."

Yeah, I agree with the slicing problem's arguments and I think I understand the QRI's take against functionalist's vagueness. This also makes sense to me. I think both QRI's and Friston's functionalist folk's approaches are amazing at predicting the states of consciousness from slightly different perspectives, allowing for engineering states of consciousness directly or indirectly, so that's why I'm attempting to synthetize them. I love how they were succesfully predictively applied in neuropsychiatry, meditation, psychedelics or Michael's Levin's playing God with engineering two headed planarias and reversengineering cancer and immortality, despite the FEP's framework's edge cases (the slicing problem) where it breaks down. Also, how Michael Levin said that bioelectricity is gluing cells, that might be hinting at QRI related stuff as well!
My mind tends to be fuzzyfing even the physics implementational level as quantum field theory framework seem to have its own edge cases where it breaks down (in infinities for example) and when different frameworks try to fix it you might be getting slightly or very different mathematics to work with with spacetime with contents being for example emergent. (loops, strings?) And still quantum field theory is so brilliantly predictive model in science that gave us so much technology and stuff.
Overall I think about about every problem spaces as landscape with potentially equivalent solutions when it comes to their predictive power or what they functionally try to solve, or different lenses on the same thing (approximating reality) with different advantages and disadvantages, giving different information. But I wonder if you can get all information on the computational level just from the implementational level! One alternative model solves one thing and gives some pragmatic engineering implications but gets different problems and doesnt get other engineering implications.
QRI's framework might be actually one of those that get the very fundamental hardware of the brain correctly creating revolution in neuroscience as predictive power on all levels including the computational level as well might increase, I would love to see that! I agree the most direct physics is probably a very strong tool. I never stick to any particular ontology/framework fundamentally.
